I promised Sarah that I'd make her a magnetic memo board. He it is. It's finally finished. When I asked her what colors she wanted ( she said harlot pink and black)...I didn't realize just how difficult it was going to be to find just the right colors of pink and black! I suppose I am too picky. Anyhow, the top picture is the full view of the board. I used distressed black polka dot paper and glittery pink paper. Striped pink, black and white ribbon with a pink ribbon slide ( which says chic).

I Was Tagged
Well Shemaine, I'm not sure if I should thank you for this or not. :) This picture is the 6Th one in my 6TH folder. The folder is titled "photo art".
Here's the story behind the photo.
About 2 years ago I got my camera. It's a cannon Rebel XTI ( digital). Around this time we decided to start spending more time together as a family. I bought this book about free fun things to do in our area. Doing inexpensive things as a family was a wonderful way to utilize my new camera. On this day we went to a place called Gillamot. It was a really nice hike leading to the ocean. Near the end of the hike we came across this old house. I took several pictures of it. With this one I took out all the color except the green ( that's why you can see a bit of green on the picture). The most memorable thing about this hike was the fact that my parents came with us. If you knew my parents, you'd know how rare it is for us to spend time together outside the house. I had my camera , my dad had his...and we made it all the way to the ocean...and back up the trail again. It was a good family day. It's still a good memory for me and the children. I hope that this summer we'll be motivated enough to do it again.
And that's the story behind this photo. So, I guess that I'm going to say thanks Shemaine! It was good to relive the memories.

Valentine Treats And A Card
It's Valentines Day and I hope yours is fully of love and yummy chocolate! We don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day in my house. Which is something that initiated many years ago when my husband and I were dating. I told him that if he couldn't show or tell me that he loved me every day..then Valentines Day was meaningless. But, that's just my opinion. Other than that I LOVE chocolate! :) Anyhow, last night I was feeling creative and my friend Julie inspired me to make these cute little treat bags ( they're actually called a box in a bag) for my kids. They were pretty easy to make ( the directions can be found on the Split Coast Stampers site ) and they look so cute when they're done! I filled them with some chocolates and gave them to the kids this morning. They weren't expecting anything so they were pretty thrilled with their treats.
This is a card that I made for my husband last night. I was shooting for something that wasn't too fru fru. Don't think I made it. :) But he was happy enough with it. Though he felt bad because we had talked about whether or not to do anything for V-Day...we decided not to..so he didn't have anything. Which is okay because I didn't buy anything for him. It's just a card to show my appreciation for all that he does.

Just Because
I was in the mood to scrapbook last night, fortunately Julie ( from Scrap Happy) posted a sketch a couple of days ago that I really wanted to try. Here's what I came up with. This is my daughter shortly after her 13 TH birthday. I've been taking yearly pictures of my kids for the past couple years..and I'm quite happy with the way these came out.
The recipe for the Layout is this:
All cardstock ( eexcept the red) and printed paper is SU
The Poppy ( red) colored carstock and red ribbon is from Paper Trey Inc.
The flower rub on is form Scenic Route, the flowers are mostly prima with other variations sprinkled about.
The ribbon slide is also SU

First Paper Bag Album
When I saw my first paper bag album I admit I wasn't overly impressed. You see I just couldn't get past the fact that it was made from lunch bags. I am a scrapbooking snob. There I said it. I just couldn't imagine using paper bags for an album. Though I did think it would be a cute craft for my kids...
Then one day when I was IMing with a friend she showed me some that were being sold on ebay. I was impressed. I couldn't tell that they were made with paper lunch bags. I wanted to see if I could do it as well. So I was inspired. I hope that I did justice to the main focus of the album!

Valentine Gable Boxes
I love these gable boxes! I think the kids will give one to their teachers on Valentines Day. I made these for a How TO I did for an online group ( Scrap Happy). I was pleasantly surprized at how easy these were to put together. The only real issue I had ( and this is operator error on my part)...was when I made the second one..for whatever reason, I couldn't get the oval punch to line up evenly on both flaps ( the one's that made the handles). VERY frustrating.
The cardstock is from Paper Trey Inc. I love their cardstock. The box with the hearts is stamped with a SU wheel stamp. The other gable box has a tree stamp on it purchase from my local stamp store ( Rubber Soul...) The tree stamp is made by Memory Box, as is the heart stamps( the small hearts on the tree) and the sentiment stamp( it says Valentine Greetings). As a finishing touch I put some yummy valentine chocolates in the box. Now that I found my paper crimper I intend to make my own crinkle paper as an added decorative element.
